some pretty great days

In the midst of my 8th - YEAH THAT'S RIGHT, I SAID 8TH - week of student teaching I turned 22 years young! I had a pretty great pre-birthday weekend and I am going to have an even great post-birthday weekend!
Friday consisted of a pretty great school day teaching, some productive team planning, and a crazy awesome concert with some of my best friends, Nate and Tracey!

We The Kings played an acoustic set, because their drummer broke his arm... It was slightly disappointing, but they are still my favorite! They are seriously hilarious on stage!

Mayday Parade was AMAZING! They are so great live. Seriously, he sounds exactly the same live as on album. Love it!

It was so much fun minus the crazy annoying bitches in the crowd! I don't think there is anything that I hate more than crowd surfing or guys pushing each other around in a circle in the middle of the concert. Regardless, the music was amazing and I am in love with rock stars once again.

Next came Saturday, which was pretty boring at work until 6 when I got to go and cater a wedding with Thomas, my best friend in the entire world. It was hilarious. We had these weird little yogurt machines and we were just serving people yogurt and then had to clean up all this crap, but all in all it was actually really fun just because he is always fun! After the wedding we went to dinner and then we literally sat in our separate cars, parked next to each other, and just talked to each other through the window. Hahah! I loved every second of it!

Yesterday was my birthday! I was kinda dreading it cause I had to go to school and I had an evaluation... BUT I totally rocked my lesson and got great scores on my eval, which totally made my birthday! Later I went to This Means War with my mom, Aunt Chris, Emily, and Crystal. That movie is way funny and um... These guys... I could star at them allllllll day... Happy Birthday to Me!
THEN, and this is the best part really... Thomas came over and we just got to talk and hang out and it was so fun! He brought me a card and present and brought me the present Chelsea got me... Let me just say... I have the best friend's in the entire world. Chels got me these suuuuuuper cute, suuuuuuper awesome stickers and this awesome picture of us! Annnnd I'm making Thomas go with me shopping with the gift card he got me to Nordstrom! Love that guy! I've already got a few things in mind....

Just saying... I am so ready for this weekend! I'm going to Lumpy's with my cousins and friends and then Saturday Thomas and I are going out again! SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!

5 things.

1. I'm so in love with my friends right now.
Haley Phippen- You're the best girlfriend I could possibly have. You've been such a blessing for me since 8th grade. Thank you for you sense of humor, support, and great example.
Thomas Burrows- You are amazing. I don't know how you do it some days, but I do know that you are the best friend I could ever have. I am so grateful that you live 5 minutes away and I'm dreading the day when that isn't the case. You're gonna kill it in the engineering world. You're intelligence kinda freaks me out and it's completely incredible.
Nathan Wolfe- FRIDAY. That's basically it. I said this before and I will say it again... We are music soul mates. I am so happy that I have you. The interests that we share are perfect and get me through the day. Thanks for the laughs and I'm still hoping minute by minute that you will be living back in Sandy/Draper area soon forever.
Chelsea Sampson- Daughter. I love you. You are such a great, uplifting, and supportive friend. You hate who I hate and I hate who you hate... Even if each lasts about 5 minutes. I can't believe that there are 4 years between us, because you're one of the closest people I've ever been too. I know I can tell you anything and you will be support and give me honest advice. It's hard to be that friend that can be supportive and give honest advice and that is exactly what you do for me.
2. I didn't even know it was possible to be this tired and stressed at the same time.
Student teaching is the hardest thing I've ever done and I don't even know how I'm doing it. It is fun, frustrating, exhausting, stressful, scary, and fulfilling. Too many emotions in one day, that's for sure.
3. April. I just want it to be April.
As much fun as I'm having with student teaching I want to be able to work all the time. I want to graduate. And I want to go to Fiji. Leading to number 4...
4. Fiji.
It's all I think about, well when I'm not thinking about school. I am so FREAKING excited. I've gotten all the information and I'm in the serious planning part and I am so ready to get away! I am also SUPER nervous. I am scared to go that far away. I am scared to go away for 4 weeks. I know a lot can happen in 4 weeks, especially the summer after my best friend and cousins graduate. Thomas- you better not leave me from May 16-June 20 kkkgreat!
5. Shows.
I have a ridiculous amount of hours of TV on my DVR. It's actually a little disheartening. I miss my shows. So thanks a lot student teaching for taking them all away from me.

oh the possibilities

Hey do you wanna live on a beach for 4 weeks with no phone, internet, or people I know? Umm.. Where do I sign up?! I have been looking into several programs and GVI (Global Vision International) is a volunteer program that has projects all over the world. It's the best one I've found. It's not for sure yet, but I'm pretty sure I will be in Fiji teaching children on the Yasawa Islands for 4 weeks this summer! I will literally be living on a beach. We have to take a boat to and from the school every day -awesome! And on the weekends I get to enjoy the touristy things of FIJI!! Oh and one more plus... I can put it on my resume! YES!

appropriate music for 5th graders

is basically impossible to find. Especially for my class. Especially around Valentine's Day. All the girls are all smitten and blah blah blah about who they like so I had to avoid all the songs that talk about anything to do with love, which I don't know if you know this, is like every song ever written. BUT I did come up with some good songs after about an hour of looking up lyrics and going through my iTunes library. Oh and thanks to this lovely site right HERE. Anyway here's what I came up with...

1. Count on Me - Bruno Mars
2. Let the Good Times Roll - The Cars
3. Speed of Sound - Coldplay
4. I Want Something That I Want - Grace Potter and Bethany Joy Galeotti (Tangled)
5. The Middle - Jimmy Eat World
6. Firework - Katy Perry
7. Learning to Fly - Tom Petty
8. Good Times - Tommy Lee
9. Put Your Records On - Corinne Bailey Rae
10. Help! - The Beatles
11. I Just Wanna Run - The Downtown Fiction
12. Celebration - Kool & the Gang
13. We Are One Tonight - Switchfoot
14. Upside Down - Jack Johnson
15. Who Says - Selena Gomez & the Scene
16. Bad Day - Daniel Powter

If you have any ideas PLEASE write me a comment or email me at paige.mantle.27@gmail.com. I WOULD LOVE YOUR HELP!
